What is an EPC?
An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is an essential document that shows the energy efficiency of a building. The certificate rates a building's energy efficiency from A to G, with A (or A+ for non-domestic properties) being the most energy-efficient, resulting in lower fuel costs and reduced carbon dioxide emissions.

An EPC is a legal requirement when a building is being constructed, sold, or leased, and it's important to note that it must be in place and valid. The purpose of an EPC is to provide prospective tenants or buyers with information about the energy efficiency of the property they are considering.

The implementation of EPCs was phased in, and it became a legal requirement for all properties by autumn 2008. An EPC is valid for ten years, after which a new assessment is required.
